Have you ever signed up for a newsletter or been added to one after you have purchased a product, I have.
Sometimes to sharpen my marketing and sales skills: I subscribe to some newsletters of companies just to see how they will get me to buy their product,
And after an abhorrent amount of messages from all kinds of companies I never remember seeing in my life I am confident to say I am not impressed.
Every time I open one of those emails it feels like they are forcing their sales message down my throat.
To my relief, people are usually very undisciplined with their newsletters so one company sends me a message once in a blue moon, still if they did it right the more emails they would send the better.
I have never learned any valuable information from the newsletters.
This is the reason why nobody cares about newsletters because this is what people think they are just some spammy sleazy bullshit.
Now we both know why nobody cares about newsletters. It is time to go into why you should.
A newsletter is a tool that you can use to sell to people who already know you and probably have already bought from you. These are the easiest people to sell to.
But you can not just sell them all the time otherwise you will come off as sleazy.
A good newsletter works with the dichotomy of Nurture and Harvest emails.
What am I talking about? Excellent question.
To make things fun let's compare a newsletter to farming.
A nurture email is an email where you metaphorically water the plants literally you give the reader value and grow the relationship.
So you help them with their problems, share wisdom, funny stories etcetera. This betters your relationship with the reader.
A harvest email is where you sell the reader, after you have watered your plants enough you can finally harvest, that is what a harvest email is.
You should still give some value or at least make it clear that they will get some value from the action.
Combining these to elements and using them correctly will make you money, you essentially become a farmer for money.
So if you want to make money through your newsletter use the “Farmer technique” using nurture and harvest emails.
